R&D reports

The reports in this section are outputs from work undertaken on Jorum Research and Development (R&D) activities.

To the best of our knowledge the information, links and facts contained in these reports are correct at the time of writing, and are offered in good faith. Following publication of reports, legitimate feedback will be recorded, and corrections made, within documents where necessary.

    The purpose of this report is to provide a review of the Jorum Workflow model used to publish resources to the Jorum repository.

    This report presents a review of existing and potential metadata automation within Jorum and an overview of other automation systems.
  4. Preservation Watch Report (July 2006): [PDF 451KB]
    This is the second Preservation Watch report, providing a summary of some of the key initiatives that are currently taking place within digital preservation. It also focuses on issues that need to be addressed before a decision is made about implementing a preservation process for learning objects within Jorum.
  5. Digital Rights Management Watch (March 2006): [PDF 95KB]
    This is an update of the review of digital-rights management requirements and issues for Jorum that was published as part of the Jorum scoping and technical appraisal.
  6. Repository Systems Watch (January 2006): [PDF 3.9MB]
    This report considers developments in international e-learning repository initiatives and commercial systems that support these.
  7. Technical Frameworks and Infastructures (January 2006): [PDF 218KB]
    The aim of this report is to provide a survey of developments in the technical sphere. This report represents an assessment of current thinking in technical architectures -and specifically the extent to which the JISC e-learning programme in general, and Jorum in particular, might be affected.

    This report tracks developments and issues regarding the use of Open Source Software/Free Software in relation to Learning Object Repositories such as Jorum.
